John McCain has once again proven himself to be an out-of-touch old troll. Although there are many examples, the latest is his stubborn opposition to the abolition of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". Just think, he could have been President.
While Obama has moved v e r y slowly on issues of importance to the gay community, at least he has moved. Gay bashing was recently included in federal hate crimes legislation. Now, Obama is calling for an end to discrimination in the military.
I have not hesitated to criticize Obama when I thought he was wrong. He has certainly made mistakes in his first year in office. However, some people (including some of my own friends) have been criticizing Obama since he took office (and even before). I'm not talking about Republicans and the religious right - I ignore those people. I'm talking about gay men and others who appear reasonably intelligent. Frankly, I'm tired of it. I'll be happy to discuss or debate Obama's policies and actions with those who are informed. But, if you're only interesting in criticizing Obama for personal reasons, I won't listen to it.
